A few simple rituals keep temple gold, kemp and silver luminous for generations.

Last on, first off

Put jewellery on after perfume, hairspray and lotions, and remove it before bathing, swimming or exercise.

Keep each piece in its Swarnav pouch or a soft-lined box so stones and plating don't rub against each other.

Moisture dulls antique finishes. Add a silica sachet to your jewellery box in humid climates.

Wipe with a soft, dry cotton cloth after wearing. Avoid chemical dips, ultrasonic cleaners and abrasive polish.

Natural tarnish on silver can be lifted with a dedicated silver cloth. Store in an airtight pouch.
